Hey John,
Greetings from the open road! Barbara and I loaded up our two golden retrievers, Allie and BooBoo, and we’re more than a week into our cross-country tour supporting gun violence prevention candidates. We wanted to give you a quick update to see what we’ve been up to!
Last week we made it to Colorado, a state very similar to Virginia: a purple state that has been touched too often by heinous gun violence. Tom Sullivan is a friend we met after Alison was killed. He lost his son, Alex, in the terrible shooting at an Aurora, Colorado movie theater. We joined Moms Demand Action volunteers for canvassing with Tom for his election this November.

Just like us, Tom took it upon himself to honor his child with action. He won a seat to the Colorado state House in 2018 and is now running for state senate. Colorado has enacted some wonderful gun safety laws in recent memory and Tom has been a leader in the effort, including sponsoring the bill that created Extreme Risk Protection Orders there. The QAnon army is after him for it and the head of the GOP in Colorado even tried to recall Tom in a stunt to silence him. Check out more about Tom here and donate to his campaign if you can!
After canvassing with Tom, we stopped by RAWTools in Aurora. They are an organization that takes assault weapons and turns them into literal plowshares like spades and garden tools. For anyone who hates the violence and destruction guns cause, it's a real treat to help destroy them, which is exactly what Barbara got to do!

And then last night, we were honored to be hosted by our friend Pat Maisch and other survivors of the shooting in Tuscon, Arizona that killed six and wounded many more, including Gabby Giffords. More than ten years after that day, their work to change laws and save lives continues.

Look out for more updates soon as we stay in touch from the road!
As always, donate on ActBlue to support my effort and thank you to those who have already contributed!
Until next time,
Andy
