John,

Together, we beat Joe Manchin!

Tuesday evening we succeeded in getting Senator Joe Manchin’s dirty pipeline deal stripped from a must-pass budget bill. This so-called “side deal” would have fast-tracked oil and gas infrastructure development, including the Mountain Valley Pipeline — a proposed 303-mile fracked gas pipeline through Virginia and West Virginia.

Food & Water Action brought together grassroots organizers, activists and environmental protectors like YOU to take action — and together we WON! But our work isn’t over yet.

Fossil fuel corporations suffered a major loss yesterday. This means Senator Manchin owes his fossil fuel funders big time, and he’ll keep pushing to get some version of this “permitting reform” attached to other must-pass legislation. With your support, we won’t let him!

It’s up to us to remain vigilant and ready with all of the people power we can organize. Donate today to fuel the fight to stop more dirty fossil fuel plans!

Here are some highlights of the incredible work that we accomplished together to secure this victory:

- Generated over 10,000 calls to members of Congress
- Organized four civil disobedience actions – in New York, Seattle, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C. Our organizers were arrested in New York and San Francisco, and I was arrested in D.C.
- Held dozens of office visits, lobby meetings and rallies with our volunteers and organizers
- Led phone- and text-banking throughout August and September, reaching thousands of our supporters
- Worked with champions on Capitol Hill to have our policy experts meet with over 60 members of Congress to build opposition to the deal
- Mobilized over 700 organizations and over 400 scientists and health professionals to publicly oppose the deal

While our campaign against polluting oil and gas is far from over, this is an incredible victory against the overwhelming financial and political might of the fossil fuel industry and its Senate enablers. And it’s all thanks to grassroots activists like you!

So what’s next? Manchin says he still plans to pass this bill in the coming months. We must continue working together for the health and safety of our communities and a livable future for the planet. Join us on Monday, October 3rd at 8:00 pm ET for an emergency call to talk about the win and our next steps to ensure this dirty deal doesn't move forward in a different form!

Thank you, John, for being a critical part of this remarkable, against-all-odds victory.

Onward together,
