In just two days, we'll close the books on another quarter over here at Tester HQ. That means whatever we’ve raised this quarter — and whether or not we hit our fundraising goal — will all become public knowledge. Let me explain:

Every three months, candidates for federal office must report their fundraising numbers to the Federal Election Commission. It’s a way of ensuring transparency in our elections. Our FEC report will show the amount of money we’ve raised over the last few months and the number of people who have chipped in to help. Our FEC deadline is a big test of this campaign’s strength. Right now, Democrats have a razor-thin majority in the Senate. If Republicans flip just one seat in a matter of weeks, Mitch McConnell will take back the gavel and return the Senate to a legislative graveyard. We can’t let that happen.

That’s why right-wing groups and shady special interests will be poring over our report to search for any sign of weakness. They’ll be looking to see just how strong our Democratic majority is, especially with Election Day right around the corner.
