Dear John,

Tonight is the first night of Hanukkah, a story that has sustained Jews throughout millennia. It tells a story of limitations miraculously transcended, and darkness turned into a sustained and sustaining light.

There is so much wisdom in the great spiritual traditions. Spirituality applies to everything as it is simply the path of the heart, and it’s as relevant to public policy as it is to our individual behavior. Many of our domestic and international policies are heartless today, keeping America stuck in limitation and darkness. Righting that moral wrong is both the essence of my campaign and the key to healing our country.

Tonight, Jews everywhere will remember there is a greater power than the mortal mind, through which we can always rise up in renewed hope for a better world. May this teaching from the Jewish tradition be a blessing on us all.

I hope your holidays are filled with both meaning and joy. Hopefully we’ll be together tomorrow evening, either live in Los Angeles or on livestream.
