We had a major setback for fairness in our electoral system this year. The Supreme Court decision to not put federal limits on partisan gerrymandering made the road to achieving fair maps harder -- and now our state-based approach is even more essential. This SCOTUS setback is why we needed to form a working group to think through tactics and strategies like engaging in the census and working with grassroots partners. And these plans are why it's critical to hit our end-of-year fundraising goal.

When AOTL Campaign Director Saumya Narechania was looking at our 2020 plans, he knew we needed to get a jump start on fundraising now. We have staff and volunteers on the ground in 10 target states. We have plans to train thousands of volunteers across the country. And we have a rapid response protocol in place to hold map manipulators accountable.
