It’s debate season here in Virginia – with midterms right around the corner, Virginians are interested to know where their candidates stand on the issues that matter most. That’s why The Free Lance-Star, Virginia Public Media, and the University of Mary Washington invited Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger and Yesli Vega to debate. It’s also why Yesli Vega refused the invitation to debate Congresswoman Spanberger.

Voters deserve to know where their candidates stand on issues, and Yesli Vega is hiding from Virginians because she knows she can’t defend her extreme positions – like her belief that women who are sexually assaulted can’t become pregnant, because it doesn't happen "organically."

Yesli Vega is afraid to debate Congresswoman Spanberger, because she doesn’t want Virginians to know her extreme policy positions. If she won’t tell Virginians, we will – chip in to help DPVA get the word out about Yesli Vega’s far-right views.

Virginians deserve to know what their candidates believe. If Yesli Vega continues to refuse to debate Congresswoman Spanberger and refuses to answer Virginians’ questions about her policies, it’s on us to warn voters about her far-right policies. Can we count on you to help us hold Yesli Vega accountable?
