Dear John,

2019 has been a monumental year for the Law Center, due in no small part to the unwavering support of donors and friends like you! We realize that momentum like this doesn’t present itself every year, but when it does we must take advantage of it.  And that’s exactly what we will do…

In 2020, we will marshal the political, moral, and financial resources of caring people like you to:
Implement the landmark ruling in Martin v. Boise OR continue fighting in court and in legislative bodies if the U.S. Supreme Court intervenes
Release a report showing how communities can end homelessness, providing recommendations for local level responses to build on existing constructive alternatives to criminalizing people experiencing homelessness;

Work with Congress to strengthen an existing federal law that makes vacant federal property available for free to nonprofits to use for housing, shelter, and services for people experiencing homelessness;

Elevate housing in the presidential election though outreach supported by our Election Guide, as well as engage international mechanisms as the U.S. comes up for its five-year review of its compliance with its human rights commitments;

Reform state laws and policies to end youth homelessness by updating and widely distributing our 50-State Index analyzing the rights of unaccompanied youth; and

Pilot an online Know Your Rights resource aimed at homeless youth in DC, empowering them to understand and claim their rights on a variety of issues, from securing education, to accessing health care, to interacting with the criminal justice system.

The time is now to fight for fairness and dignity, and with 30 years of victories and defeats we know what it takes to succeed. We need your support to continue this fight! Please make a gift today, here[[link removed]].

With much gratitude for staying with us on this journey,
