Philadelphians are all too familiar with gun violence and violent crime. I’ve witnessed this heartbreak and devastation firsthand, and I know people are ready for solutions.

So much crime goes unsolved, and too many victims' families don't receive the justice and support they deserve. We can and should do better.

That's why I proudly co-led the VICTIM Act with Rep. Val Demings, and I'm happy to share that the House passed this legislation with bipartisan support.

The VICTIM Act is a major step in acquiring the resources to close more cases. Now it's time for the Senate to act on it. Will you take action with me today and call on the Senate to bring this legislation to a vote?

The Violent Incident Clearance and Technological Investigative Methods (VICTIM) Act is a major win for public safety. It would fund local police departments to hire victim support personnel and investigators to solve unsolved homicides and violent crimes.

As someone who has pushed for help for victims of gun violence, this bill will also provide victims and family members with mental health resources and assistance with shelter, wage, and relocation costs.

The VICTIM Act made it through the House with the support of Democrats and Republicans, but we have to use all the tools we have to pressure the Senate to take action.
