John: For the last five years, it seems like the Republican Party has only cared about winning political points and pleasing their extremist donors.

They’ve flip-flopped on too many issues to count. And now, after claiming that abortion should be decided by the states, GOP Senators have introduced a bill to ban abortion nationwide. And this comes as no surprise – the Republican Party has pulled the same stunt on everything from Supreme Court nominations to our 2020 election.

But throughout every flip-flop, walk back, and reversal, one thing has remained the same: The Republican Party doesn't care about us. They just care about power.

It's disappointing and wrong. That's not how our government should work, plain and simple. A party of flip-floppers like that shouldn't get to hold that type of power – and thankfully, this abortion ban bill is going nowhere in today's Democratic Senate.

But if Mitch McConnell reclaims Senate control, his party of radicals will gain control of the most influential legislative body in the country. They'll get free rein to push whichever far-right ideology their megadonors ask for.

We can't let this happen, which means we must maintain our Senate majority. All of the issues that we care about – the right to an abortion, the sanctity of our elections, the integrity of our Supreme Court – are on the line here. So please, will you pitch in right now to defend our Senate majority and make sure that our leaders are fighting for families, not political points?
