John — I’m reaching out myself to ask you to consider splitting a $12 donation to our campaign and Barbara Lee before our end-of-month fundraising drive comes to a close. But before I ask, you deserve an explanation of why your support is so important.

Running for Senate required a big leap of faith — faith in our mission and faith that enough people like you would step up to support us. Winning a race as tough as this has to be a team effort. It requires all of us to do the hard work together.

Right now is a moment when we need folks like you to come through for our campaign. We noticed a bit of a fundraising slow down this past week during our budget meeting, and honestly, it was a bit concerning.

My opponent has at least five different outside groups spending on his behalf. Some of the biggest special interests in politics are aggressively trying to buy this seat — including a Koch-backed super PAC, a major corporate special interest group and two of McConnell’s super PACs.

I don’t believe this seat or our next senator’s vote should be for sale. We need a leader who will always put people first. That’s why our campaign is rejecting corporate PAC money.
