John,
55.
That’s how many crimes Donald Trump has been credibly accused of since he began running for the presidency in 2015. Check out our newly updated tracker for the full list.
We first launched our tracker of Trump’s uncharged crimes related to the presidency in March, cataloging nearly 50 crimes Trump has likely committed over the last seven years. Since then, we’ve added new crimes—like Trump’s alleged unlawful possession of government records at Mar-a-Lago after leaving office—for which there are ongoing investigations.
But one thing hasn’t changed: Trump has yet to be charged with a single crime.
And the statutes of limitations for many of his alleged offenses are running out. Trump was protected by the Justice Department’s policy of not indicting a sitting president while he was in office—but that policy no longer protects him.
Of course, prosecutors must be careful and judicious when deciding whether to indict someone, particularly a former president. But no one is above the law, and no one should be immune from accountability. Vast quantities of evidence suggest that Trump has likely committed dozens of crimes, ranging from obstruction of justice to bribery to wire fraud to seditious conspiracy.
If Trump avoids criminal prosecution for these potential offenses because prosecutors are unwilling to pursue legally and factually justified cases against him, the message to him and future presidents will be clear: you can get away with anything if you’re the president.
We can’t let that happen. We’ll continue fighting for accountability for as long as it takes.
Thank you,
Noah Bookbinder
