Governor Laura Kelly Speaks at Kansas Economic Development Alliance's Fall Conference

*SALINA *– Governor Laura Kelly today spoke to economic development leaders at the Kansas Economic Development Alliance’s annual fall conference. In her remarks, she celebrated Kansas’ numerous economic development wins under her administration.

“The numbers are clear: Kansas has become a highly sought-after destination for companies looking to grow, hire, and succeed,” *Governor Kelly said.* “It's a resounding validation that we’re on the right track – and that our future is as bright as it’s ever been.”

Since taking office, the Kelly Administration has:

* Created *more than 750 economic development projects* representing *more than $14 billion in capital investment*;
* Created and retained *more than 51,000 jobs*;
* Overseen ten months of record-low unemployment rates;
* Won the prestigious Gold Shovel Award in back-to-back years for excellence in attracting high-value investment projects;
* Won the Governor’s Cup for being the state with the *most economic development investment per capita in the country*;
* Landed *the largest private sector investment in state history* with the announcement of Panasonic Energy selecting Kansas as the site for its new electric vehicle battery facility.

These successes have fueled record state tax revenues [ [link removed] ] that have enabled the administration to balance the budget, pay off debt incurred by the Brownback Administration, fully fund schools four years in a row, close the “Bank of KDOT,” cut property taxes, and axe the food tax.
