Why is counting Bearded Vultures important?
This ambitious conservation initiative enables us to thoroughly monitor the Bearded Vulture population status and distribution in almost its full European range. The count also produces many sightings of identifiable birds and generates baseline data to analyze survival rates and model the age structure of the population, which helps us understand the impacts of our reintroduction programmes.

These simultaneous and coordinated surveys would not be possible without the valuable contributions of the hundreds of volunteers who join us every year.

We would love the have you on board - pick up a pair of binoculars, spend the day in the mountains, help us search the skies for Bearded Vultures and get counting!
