Featured Funding OpportunitiesNew York State Small Business Seed Funding Grant ProgramThis program was created to aid early-stage small businesses to succeed in a recovering New York State economy. To be eligible you must have started business on September 1, 2018 or later and has been operational for at least six months before an application is submitted. Learn more and register here!FEMA Hazard Mitigation Assistance GrantsFEMA’s two competitive hazard mitigation grant programs, Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) and Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC), provide states, local communities, tribes, and territories funding for eligible mitigation activities to strengthen our nation’s ability to build a culture of preparedness by reducing disaster losses and protecting life and property from future disaster damage.The application period for FMA and BRIC will open on Sept. 30, 2022. To apply, you must fill out a sub-application by November 9, 2022. The New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services began holding webinars for this program August 4 and will host them through October. Rural Energy for America ProgramThis program provides guaranteed loan financing and grant funding to agricultural producers and rural small businesses for renewable energy systems or to make energy efficiency improvements. Agricultural producers may also apply for new energy efficient equipment and new system loans for agricultural production and processing.Applications due October 31, 2022. Featured Grant Award$1 Million Awarded to City of Troy and Equinox, Inc. to Improve Criminal Justice Responses to Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, and Stalking These Capital Region awards come as part of a round of 39 awards totaling $29.4 million through the Fiscal Year 2022 ICJR Program. This program fosters victim safety and offender accountability in cases of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking by encouraging state and local governments to work together with community organizations to identify problems and find solutions that lead to effective responses to these crimes.Victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking deserve care, compassion, and the knowledge that their offenders will be investigated and prosecuted with the utmost rigor. Coordinated community responses that bring law enforcement and prosecutors together with victim advocacy groups and nonprofit organizations are a key tool in our fight to bring justice to these victims. I’m proud to announce this significant funding today, and I’ll continue my work to make certain that all victims of domestic violence and sexual assault receive the care and the justice they deserve.$3 Million+ in Grants for John Boyd Thacher State Park in Voorheesville and Saratoga Spa State Park in Saratoga SpringsThree grants totaling $3,086,565 from the National Park Service’s Land and Water Conservation Fund have been awarded to support critical upgrades at John Boyd Thacher State Park and Saratoga Spa State Park. These awards include $1,150,000 for wastewater improvements at Thacher State Park’s Thompson’s Lake Campground, $736,565 for new electric lines for comfort stations and pavilions at Thacher State Park, and $1,200,000 for major improvements to the Spa State Park’s Roosevelt Drive Corridor. Small Business ResourcesNew York Small Business Development Center (NYSBDC)The NYSBDC provides small business owners and entrepreneurs in New York with the highest quality, confidential business counseling, training, and business research at no cost.The Albany Small Business Development Center serves small businesses in the Capital Region.
