Let me share something with you from a Dallas Morning News op-ed from Senator John Cornyn of Texas that caught my eye:

"In the past year, U.S. Customs and Border Protection logged more than 2.3 million illegal border crossings. This has led to not only a humanitarian crisis, but also a dire security breakdown.

"On top of the amount of people, CBP has seized more than 645,000 pounds of illegal drugs, including nearly 13,600 pounds of the deadly synthetic opioid fentanyl, which is killing Americans at an alarming rate. Meanwhile, the cartels that traffic both drugs and migrants are getting richer by the day."

Immigration and border control aren’t just political issues: they are economic, national security, and public health issues.

Illegal border-crossings are at a record high, children are being abandoned by smugglers, people are losing their lives, criminal enterprises are flourishing, and health concerns abound — including a catastrophic spike in drug-related deaths of American citizens.

Getting a handle on this crisis should be the top priority for the current administration. This begins with securing our borders.
DEMAND A SECURE BORDER ([link removed])
This administration’s policy of a free and open border will only continue to increase the number of illegal migrants in our country that are more inclined to commit crimes, add pressure to our school systems, and increase the stress on our safety-net health care.

Senator Cornyn lays out bipartisan solutions to immediately address the surge of migrants at the border. Is the Biden administration paying attention?
