Governor Laura Kelly
- In July, Kansas won the incentives war to secure Panasonic's construction of a $4 billion battery-production facility in Johnson County.
- Panasonic was a big get, but Kelly boasts of twice that sum--$8.6 billion--in new business investment during her term, yielding 41,000 jobs created or retained. [Those numbers are now 14B in new business investment and 51,000 jobs created or retained]
- With that sum more than 425 new infrastructure projects are in development, including fixing roads, bridges, and expanding efficient and reliable internet to rural communities.
-
Site Selection Magazine awarded her its Governor's Cup for record economic growth in 2021, ranking Kansas No.1 nationally for per-capita ED investment.
Lt. Governor David Toland
- He played an integral role last winter in securing legislative approval for a monster incentive package that ultimately swayed Panasonic Energy to commit to build its $4 billion battery-production plant in Kansas.
- They don't come any more Kansan than Toland, whose family runs seven generations deep in the Sunflower State.
- "I grew up three doors down from my grandparents. It has a grounding effect, knowing that people came before you were so involved in the community and that those who come after will, we hope, contain the same values."
