In less than 50 days, a handful of states will decide who controls the direction of our country. And while we can't predict what will happen, here's one thing we know for sure: Rural voters in states like Ohio, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Wisconsin and Nevada will decide who holds the House and Senate.
I started One Country Project (OCP) because, like many others, I was frustrated by the fact that even though they are such a crucial voting bloc, rural voters are often left out of the conversation. At OCP we know that when we engage and organize rural voters on the issues they care about, they will elect Democratic champions — and we all win.
We certainly got a sneak preview of this dynamic in August with Kansas's ballot referendum on abortion. Nearly 6 in 10 Kansas voters rejected the anti-choice ballot measure in favor of keeping fundamental healthcare decisions where they belong: between women and doctors. And 14 out of the 19 counties voting “no” backed Donald Trump in 2020!
OCP is building on this momentum by educating and engaging rural voters on issues like reproductive freedom, healthcare and education. But we must raise $50,000 by September 30th to keep our paid advertisements up through Election Day. Can we count on your grassroots support today?
As we rapidly approach Election Day, our biggest enemy is disinformation. Polling shows that most voters no longer trust what they see on TV as accurate, leaving a void that extremists are all too quick to fill — with conspiracy theories, misleading opinion pieces and outright lies.
One Country Project is filling that information gap by providing voters in key battleground states with digital tools to research candidates themselves. We're also running online ads encouraging voters to learn the facts and then turn out to vote.
Thank you in advance for helping us reach our $50,000 goal. Together, we can rebuild trust with rural communities, amplify our shared values and move our country forward.
