Looks like Paramount is thinking outside the batter’s box to promote its new horror movie, “Smile.” If you tuned in for this weekend’s MLB slate, you might have received a jump-scare courtesy of some very creepy fans behind home plate — flashing their creepiest smiles.

Another NFL team could be hitting the market in the not-too-distant future.
The Seattle Seahawks could change hands in the next couple of years, according to Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay.
“Seattle — with Paul Allen, my friend, unfortunately passing away, and that team is in a trust — is going to become available, I’d imagine, in the 2024 range,” Irsay told Bloomberg.
- Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen owned the team until his death in 2018. The team is now controlled by his sister Jody Allen.
- The team would have to pay 10% of the gross proceeds from a sale to the state of Washington if one occurs before May 2, 2024, due to a provision in the 1997 referendum that funded the construction of Lumen Field.
The Denver Broncos were the most recent NFL team to be sold, going to a group led by Rob Walton in June for $4.65 billion.
“Anyone that got them for under $8 billion, they got them for a heck of a deal,” Irsay said of the Broncos sale.
High Supply
A Seahawks sale would add to an unusually high number of major U.S. teams on the block. The NBA’s Phoenix Suns and WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury are beginning the sale process, joining MLB’s Washington Nationals and Los Angeles Angels.
The Baltimore Orioles are not currently for sale, but that could change quickly: The team hired Goldman Sachs over the summer to provide assistance regarding a potential sale — although it could be slowed by litigation between members of the Angelos family, which owns the team.

Egypt is interested in hosting the Olympic Games — in 14 years.
The country’s youth and sports minister Ashraf Sobhi, said on Saturday that the country will apply to host the 2036 Games. If chosen, Egypt would be the first Arab or African nation to host the Olympics.
The application process hasn’t started yet, but Egyptian president Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has given permission for the country to move forward with a bid. Germany, India, Mexico, Qatar, Russia, and Turkey are also reportedly interested.
The timing may work out well financially for Egypt, which is reportedly submitting a joint bid with Saudi Arabia and Greece to host the 2030 World Cup.
- Saudi Arabia is leading the bid and is expected to pay for or contribute to Egypt’s and Greece’s infrastructure costs.
- Saudi Arabia has also expressed interest in hosting the Olympic Games.
International Olympic Committee president Thomas Bach voiced his support for Egypt’s Olympic bid on Sunday, adding that itt has “solid sporting infrastructures.”
Olympic Agenda
The 2024 Summer Olympics will be held in Paris, with France looking at a total cost of at least $8.6 billion. Los Angeles’ price for the 2028 Games is $6.88 billion.
The 2032 Games in Brisbane are expected to cost Australia $3.7 billion, but Brisbane says 84% of stadium and event venues are already in place.

Portland is vying for a WNBA team with the help of one of its federal representatives.
Sen. Ron Wyden wrote a letter to WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert and NBA commissioner Adam Silver, saying that a Portland WNBA team would be a “slam dunk success for the city and the league.”
- Portland had a WNBA team, the Fire, for three seasons from 2000-02.
- Wyden wrote that both Portland and Oregon have “proven to be a hotbed for women’s sports.”
- The city’s NWSL team, the Thorns, topped the league in attendance last year with 14,391 per game and, as of Monday, are second to Angel City FC this year with 15,543 per game.
Wyden alluded to concerns that the NBA’s Portland Trail Blazers could leave the city at the end of his missive:
“Please know that I stand ready to offer whatever help I can provide to protect and build a lasting commitment to the Trail Blazers’ continued presence in Portland – a commitment that would also be solidified with a WNBA team in my hometown.
Fierce Competition
The WNBA, which has 12 teams, is looking to add two more. The Oakland City Council passed a resolution calling on the WNBA to bring a team there. The league is also believed to be looking at Nashville, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Toronto.

For Dude Perfect’s next trick, it’ll build a $100 million sports and entertainment center.
The entertainment company, founded by five friends and entertainers, released renderings of a proposed tower and development for which it’s looking for a site.
- The company said the tower would include a 330-foot trick shot tower, “crazy mini-golf,” a Dude Perfect Museum, two acres of outdoor space, and restaurants. The rendering appeared to show a golf course, as well.
- It wants the venue to be family-friendly and focused on sports, entertainment, and faith.
- The group, which will be relocating from Frisco, Texas, would like to stay in
North Texas but have already fielded calls from Atlanta and Los Angeles.
Viral Sensation
Dude Perfect, which began as a YouTube channel focused on trick shots and other unlikely feats, has grown to include cruises, live shows, and a television series on Nickelodeon and CMT, which aired from 2016-2019.
The channel now boasts 58.3 million subscribers.
Their corporate partners include ESPN, Nike, the Los Angeles Rams, the U.S. Olympic Team, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and EA Sports.
Amazon hired the group to host an alternate broadcast for “Thursday Night Football.”
