NAFCU Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Greg Mesack Monday wrote to leaders of the House or Representatives to reiterate support for the Credit Union Board Modernization Act, which would modify existing language in the Federal Credit Union Act related to the requirement that credit union boards meet once a month. The House is expected to vote on the bill, introduced in March by Reps. Juan Vargas, D-Calif., and Anthony Gonzalez, R-Ohio, this week.
NAFCU Senior Counsel for Research and Policy Andrew Morris wrote to the NCUA to offer recommendations on the agency’s proposed rule establishing a 72-hour period for credit unions to provide notice of a reportable cyber incident.
NAFCU joined with several trade organizations to urge the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to extend the deadline for filing comments in response to the FTC’s advance notice of proposed rulemaking (ANPR) on the prevalence of commercial surveillance and lax data security acts and practices that harm consumers. The group requested a 60-day extension for the comment deadline from October 21 to December 20.
