Hi John,

Liz Truss has made it clear: approving new climate-wrecking new oil and gas projects is a top priority for her government. First up is Rosebank, the largest undeveloped field in the North Sea. The biggest field deserves the biggest fight—can you sign the urgent petition demanding Truss #StopRosebank?

Last year, thousands of people rallied together to stop the Cambo oil field and won—it’s time to bring that same fight to Rosebank. The new field won’t do anything to lower our energy bills, or secure the UK’s energy supply, but it will make millions for oil and gas companies. Approving new fields like Rosebank only makes us more dependent on expensive polluting oil and gas for longer, when we can and should be rapidly switching to clean affordable energy.

Rosebank is a climate justice issue—the UK government needs to take its fair share of responsibility for the climate crisis and use its wealth to support a fair and fast transition away from fossil fuels at home and abroad. The first step is to stop Rosebank and all new oil and gas extraction.

The choice could not be more clear: climate wrecking new oil and gas and an unlivable planet or investment in renewables, which are now nine times cheaper than gas.

This is just the beginning—we will fight back and #StopRosebank. You’ll hear more about Rosebank from me soon. In the meantime, follow the movement to Stop Rosebank on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.

Keep up the fight,

Miranda & the Oil team
