Monday Nature Mystery
We are pleased to announce the winner of our Monday Nature Mystery, Marjorie Sieb. (Please email your snail mail address and preference for a hat or tote bag to [email protected].)
Congratulations to Marjorie for identifying the Sachem Skipper (Atalopedes campestris). Skippers are named for their quick, darting flight habits. According to Butterflies and Moths, these common butterflies lay their eggs on grasses. They do well in disturbed, open areas such as roadsides, landfills, pastures, meadows, fencerows, yards, parks, and lawns.
