Hi John,
When you put yourself under the public's eye, you have to brace yourself for a series of unwanted, intrusive, and obnoxious questions.
So let me tell you, John, my least favorite of them all: Which politicians do you look up to?
*gags* The reality is, I don't.
My idols are movement leaders. I look to people like Stephen Biko, Paul Farmer, Megan Rapinoe, Harriet Tubman, the Grimke sisters, Martin Luther King Jr., the list goes on.
Too many of our politicians are bought out by dark money, too many elected officials look the other way in the face of crisis for the sake of a large donation to their campaign. These aren't the actions of a true leader to me.
I know I'm supposed to idolize our elected officials. I know I'm supposed to put them on the pedestal they've clawed their way on to and clap for them when they do the bare minimum. I know I'm supposed to kiss the ground on which they walk.
But I don't.
They've conformed to a system I refuse to be a part of. They've sacrificed their principles for the sake of a check. In the Hunt camp, we will never do anything of the sort.
We're 100% funded by people like you. That means it's 10x the work to run for office. But it also sets me free from a system that favors corporate and millionaire donors and ignores the issues of everyday people.
I will never ignore you. Can you make a $22 contribution to our 100% people funded exploratory committee today?
