I want to talk to you about a big deadline we are facing on Friday night.
If you're reading this email, you probably have a lot of other political emails piling up in your inbox. Too many of them are panicky, or misleading. Too many politicians use their grassroots supporters as an ATM machine. It's bad.
My team tries their hardest to inspire, not scare, our supporters. We use our grassroots movement to fundraise for worthy causes and for other progressive champions, as well as for our re-election campaign.
But here's the truth: We're facing an all-too-real deadline on Friday, September 30. After midnight, we are required by the Federal Elections Commission to report everything we have raised since July — and then that report will be made public for everyone from reporters to our Republican opponent to see. All eyes will be on how well we perform on this final end-of-quarter report before the election, as a measure of the strength of our movement.
This movement is powerful because together, we can take collective action and we can organize for real change in our communities. It's thanks to the combined power of our grassroots supporters that we have come this far, and it's only with your help that we'll hit our goals for this fundraising quarter.
