Here is a candid assessment of what I think is going on in America today, and why this Midterm election is so important.
Hysterical, violent rhetoric from many Republicans—and from Ken Buck specifically—is stoking anger, fear, and division in our communities. Ken Buck, who is currently my representative, has no interest in uniting us. Instead, he uses wedge issues like guns, abortion, or immigration to divide and distract.
Now is a time to build common cause with freedom-loving Americans everywhere: democracy itself is under attack, and we need to create as big a tent as possible without sacrificing our core values. It’s why I decided I wanted to run to represent Colorado’s 4th District for a second time.
This month is critical for this effort—and not to benefit me, personally, but to regain the credibility of the Democratic Party brand in districts like mine, and to boost turnout so that we can unseat do-nothing cable news fixtures like Ken Buck with a durable majority.
As my team and I work to talk to exactly the voters we need to do this, and to win, we are up against an FEC deadline and a $6,000 internal fundraising goal—and we can make it if we keep up the momentum from our incredible grassroots supporters.
