Brand New Legislation
Congress is back in session, and our BNC reps wasted no time getting down to business for working people.
Two weeks ago, Representatives Cori Bush, Jamaal Bowman, and Rashida Tlaib jointly introduced the Resolution Recognizing the Human Rights to Utilities .
[link removed] [[link removed]]
This resolution would recognize access to water, sanitation, electricity, heating, cooling, public transit, and broadband communications as basic human rights and public services that must be accessible, safe, acceptable, sufficient, affordable, justly sourced and sustainable, climate resilient, and reliable for every person.
This policy is straight out of the Brand New Congress 21st Century Bill of Rights [[link removed]] (circa 2017), which calls for clean, safe, and modern housing for all which includes utilities essential to modern living.
[link removed] [[link removed]]
Introducing a resolution like this is just the first step. While the resolution currently has 10 cosponsors, to pass it will need to gain widespread acceptance among the rest of the legislators – and many powerful lobbying groups will work to stop it.
That’s why we have to elect more working class progressives who CAN’T be bought by special interests and refuse corporate PAC money.
We’ve got the chance to grow progressive power and DOUBLE (or more) the number of BNC representatives in office this November. If you believe safe housing and utilities are human rights, will you pitch in $25 today to elect more BNC representatives to fight for us? [[link removed]]

On the ground in Nashville with Odessa Kelly
This weekend our Executive Director Adrienne Bell was in Nashville rallying with Odessa Kelly!
It was an afternoon of music, food, love and THE TRUTH, talking about how we CAN flip Tennessee blue.
The crowd was energized and fired up to turn out the vote for Odessa in Nashville – where early voting starts in just over 30 days!

Welcome to the slate John Fetterman!
Last week we unveiled our newest member of the slate, John Fetterman!
From volunteering with Big Brothers/Big Sisters, to AmeriCorps, to his 13 years as mayor of Braddock and nearly four years as Lt. Governor of Pennsylvania – John has been in public service his entire life.
Now he’s in a heated race to flip the open U.S. Senate seat in Pennsylvania against an out-of-touch, out-of-state, Trump-endorsed multimillionaire reality-TV star named Dr. Oz.
The Pennsylvania Senate race is one of THE most important elections of this cycle. It’s the race MOST likely to flip (the outgoing incumbent is a Republican) and it may well be the seat that determines majority control of the Senate.
The opportunity to elect a fearless, progressive fighter like John to the Senate – especially from a swing state like Pennsylvania – is huge. None of us can sit this one out.
Former BNC Senate candidate Malcolm Kenyatta, who competed in the Democratic primary for this seat, wasted no time getting to work to elect John. Malcolm has been touring the state holding events and fundraisers, relentlessly advocating for John to defeat Dr. Oz.
Here’s what Malcolm had to say about his support for John:

We know John will lead the way for bold, transformational change in the U.S. Senate just as he has done at every stage of his life in public service.
If you didn’t have a chance to welcome John to the slate, please consider splitting a contribution between Brand New Congress and his powerful grassroots campaign now.

Since 2016 BNC has led the way in advancing popular policies like Medicare for All and the Green New Deal and electing bold progressive fighters. We recruited and elected AOC in 2018 and Cori Bush in 2020. With seven BNC Reps currently in office [[link removed]] , we are growing progressive power in Congress.
This November we’re working to flip multiple red seats, fill open seats with bold progressives, and elect our first BNC Senator by defeating Rand Paul.
Pitch in today and join us as we take over Congress and return power to the people.
