Even though #BannedBooksWeek is over, local communities need us to #ReadWithLove, ensure as many citizens are informed and prepared to vote this November, and continue showing up as allies all year long.

Enjoy the latest PFLAG Connects content this week!

Continue to #ReadWithLove and fight back against anti-LGBTQ+ censorship in local communities

Although #BannedBooksWeek is behind us, there's no question we need as many people as possible to #ReadWithLove to ensure we continue adding MORE books about all kinds of topics and people in our schools and libraries. With next week kicking off LGBTQ+ History month, our stories are more important than ever.

Three Steps to Being a Better Ally to People Who are Latino

  1. Learn: Take a look through PFLAG’s publications, many of which have been translated into Spanish, including Fe en nuestras familias, Nuestros Seres Queridos Trans, and more. Read up on PFLAG’s stance on community justice and the commitment to intersectionality.
  2. Watch: Check out a few episodes of Something To Talk About LIVE! Including an episode focused on the heightened discrimination that LGBTQ+ Hispanic people face. Be sure to also watch our episodes focused on Puerto Rico, including this episode about Puerto Rico’s civil code and this episode about an LGBTQ+ inclusion campaign.
  3. Share: Learn about our PFLAG Connects: Communities dedicated to the Latino Community and share information about how others can register for meetings.

42 Days Until the Midterms

September 20th was National Voter Registration Day--did you make sure you were registered to vote? The first voter registration deadlines ahead of the critical midterm elections in November are in less than two weeks!

Visit PFLAG.org/Vote and view our voter registration resources page. Make sure you, your family, your friends, and your fellow PFLAGers have active, up-to-date voter registrations ASAP so they can make their voices heard in November!

Something to Talk About...Live!

Are You Registered to Vote?

There is still time to register to vote – and verify that you are registered – in all 50 states! Even if you voted in the 2020 presidential election and/or the recent primaries, you should verify that you are still registered and that your registration is up-to-date because how you vote, where you vote, when you’re able to vote, and what you’ll need to cast a ballot may have changed.

Join us this Thursday, September 29 at 4:30 PM ET / 1:30 PM PT for Something to Talk About Live where we will be discussing "The Most Dominant Toxic Election Narratives Online” which appeared in the New York Times by Cecilia Kang. We're excited to welcome PFLAG National staff members Brian BondPatrick Cochran, and Diego Sanchez to the conversation!

Join us this Thursday, September 22 at 4:30 PM ET / 1:30 PM PT on Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, or Twitter.
