John, it’s Hispanic Heritage Month and our team is celebrating powerhouse Latinas of the New American Majority who are changing the face of politics right now.

We’re thrilled to introduce you to these trailblazing Emerge alums who’ve WON their primaries and, with your help, could achieve historic FIRSTS in the November elections.

Andrea Salinas Emerge Oregon alum Andrea Salinas has been a fierce fighter for affordable quality health care. Her efforts have led to successfully passing a bill that took on Big Pharma and lowered prescription drug prices for Oregonians. She’s also championed one of the most progressive reproductive health care policies and fought for paid family leave. If elected in November, she will be Oregon’s FIRST woman of color and Latina elected to Congress (OR-06).

Elizabeth Velasco Emerge Colorado alum Elizabeth Velasco has many firsts to her name. She is a first-generation American, a first-time Democratic candidate, and, if elected, she will be the FIRST Latina to serve her district. She won her primary because she understands the concerns of rural communities and is committed to improving access to essential resources and opportunities.

Leti Valle Moretti Emerge Oregon alum Leti Valle Moretti is a daughter of immigrant farmworkers. As a community champion, she is dedicated to improving her district’s well-being through affordable housing and lower utility costs. Looking to the future, she sees the urgent need to address the impacts of climate change and face the challenge of rising inequalities head on. If elected in November, she will be the FIRST Latina commissioner in Hood River County.

Sharlett Mena A daughter of immigrant farmworkers, Emerge Washington alum Sharlett Mena is a first-generation American dedicated to helping communities thrive. Before winning her primary for District 29 this year, she helped thousands of community members access quality health care for the first time and overcome barriers to crucial public resources. If elected, she will become the FIRST Latina to serve her district in the Washington State House.

Sonia Vasquez Luna Emerge Virginia alum Sonia Vasquez Luna is dedicated to improving local schools, building community partnerships, and ensuring that all voices are elevated and fully heard in city government. She won her primary for Manassas City Council and, if elected, she will be the FIRST and only Latina to serve on the Council. She has a chance to flip one of two Republican seats from red to blue.

Yvette De La Guardia Emerge Kentucky alum Yvette De La Guardia went to law school to help children and families – plain and simple. For seven years, she served as a public defender and a committed advocate for the rights of children. She has worked to ensure fair and equal treatment under the law for all members of the community. If elected, she will become the FIRST Latina to serve in her district in this important judgeship (Jefferson County District Judge, Division 4).

Emerge is proud to support each and every one of these New American Majority women as they shatter ceilings, build power, and put people first in every political decision. But with nearly 6 weeks until Election Day, our alums still urgently need us to have their backs on the campaign trail and beyond. So please:

Will you donate $5 or more today to help Emerge recruit, train, and elect Democratic women up and down the ballot in every state?
