Hello –
Have you registered to vote yet?
National Voter Registration Day may have come and gone, but it is still not too late to check your eligibility to vote and get registered. Election Day is coming up on November 8th and it’s just a little over a month away!
This month has been a busy and important one as well. The anniversary of the first passage of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) came this month as we reflected on the great impacts it’s had on reducing instances of domestic violence and sexual assault.
We have also made great strides in healthcare thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act, including the new $35 per month out-of-pocket insulin cap for Medicare beneficiaries. This move will save Washingtonians thousands of dollars, especially since 58,000 Washington seniors on Medicare used insulin in 2020 and spent an average of $675 annually on insulin, higher than the national average.
Changes to better our healthcare system and directly help Americans save money on the medication they need to live are possible. I will always work to improve healthcare for our communities.
I am also happy to announce that northwest Washington will receive $69 million in funding for three transportation projects in King, Snohomish, and Whatcom counties. This is a direct result of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that I championed and represents a critical collaboration with our local officials to improve our region’s transportation networks.
This funding will be fundamental in bringing much-needed resources that will provide better and safer ways for Washingtonians to connect to their jobs, communities, and loved ones.
Everyone deserves functional, accessible transportation. My priority has always been bringing straightforward solutions to the table that will directly help communities in Washington and across the country.
Thank you for always standing with me.
