We fund voter protection John, Earlier this year, Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida established our country’s first “election police force” as part of Republicans ridiculous, partisan crusade for “election integrity.” But the latest reporting from the New York Times shows what we already know: Actual voting fraud is startlingly rare – and this kind of targeted policing is disproportionately targeted to people of color. (The truth is, although voter fraud is rare, it is much more rampant within Republicans’ own party — like Mark Meadows, who falsely claimed residency to vote in North Carolina.) The bottom line is this: Republicans’ Big Lie and their voter fraud conspiracies are really just designed to intimidate and disenfranchise marginalized voters — particularly voters of color.
To drive this home, look at these statistics about voter fraud in the 2020 election: "The number of individuals charged — roughly one and one-half per state per year — is infinitesimal in a country where more than 159.7 million votes were cast in the 2020 general election alone." Infinitesimal. That’s how we know Republicans’ true motives — they have nothing to do with election integrity. They have everything to do with undermining democracy. – Power the Vote
