We’re living in an era where Big Tech companies like Oracle, Amazon, and many others have unprecedented control over our private data. What’s more, these tech giants rake in huge profits off of selling our data to third-party companies, including location information harvested from our cell phones.

This level of access to such sensitive information is already dangerous under ordinary circumstances, but now that we’re in a post- Roe America – where women and doctors in red states live in fear just for receiving or providing reproductive health care – this kind of control over our private data is more dangerous than ever.

That’s why I led a group of my colleagues in the House taking action to hold these tech companies accountable for the potential danger they are placing millions of women in around the country.

We’re calling on the top executives of major tech companies including Amazon, Oracle, Near Intelligence Holdings, and Mobilewalla to clarify their policies on data protection. We need to ensure women’s location data is not turned over to law enforcement in states that will punish people just for seeking reproductive care – and that starts with holding these companies accountable to their obligations to protect our privacy.
