We Need 37 Donors Now To Unlock $5,000

Rivers, lakes, wetlands, and the birds that depend on them are suffering from drought across the country. It’s a worst-case scenario playing out before our eyes.

Birds like the Sandhill Crane can’t endure such severe weather—and as the climate crisis worsens, these types of dangerous weather extremes could become more and more common. But today, you can help: Be one of the 37 supporters we’re counting on to make a monthly donation before midnight tomorrow, and when you do, you’ll help unlock $5,000 more for birds and the places they need thanks to a group of generous donors. In drought times, birds are deprived of the habitual stopovers they need to rest and feed, while making the remaining ones susceptible to fatal bacterial overgrowth. Yet this is only one part of a code-red crisis: With over 3 billion birds lost in the past 50 years, and a staggering two in three North American species at increasing risk of climate extinction, we need to work harder than ever before to protect them.

Birds tell us it is not too late, but there is no time to lose. It’ll take our more than a century of expertise and our proven combination of rigorous research, committed advocacy, and hands-on conservation to create a brighter future for birds and people alike.

Thanks to your generosity ([link removed]), Audubon and our partners were instrumental in helping the historic Inflation Reduction Act cross the finish line. This includes new drought funding and language for ecosystem and habitat restoration projects to address issues directly caused by drought in a river basin or inland water body.

We couldn’t do this important work without people like you: people who care about birds and are ready to help. And right now, we need you more than ever.

Please, be the friend birds need today: We’re counting on 37 dedicated bird lovers to join us with a monthly donation before midnight tomorrow while every gift will help unlock $5,000 more to protect vulnerable birds like the Sandhill Crane. ([link removed])

Sincerely,

National Audubon Society
