Folks,

There are a select few Senate seats around the country where Democrats have a real chance at defeating a Republican incumbent. Now, I’ve told you all time and time again that we’re on track to buck historical trends and expand our Senate majority. But to do so, we need to work as hard as possible to defeat these GOP incumbents. That’s why I paid a visit to North Carolina this weekend to campaign for my good friend Cheri Beasley.

In 2017, the political universe was stunned when I was elected to the Senate in Alabama. But everyone who was a part of that campaign wasn’t surprised by the result, because we had been on the ground experiencing the grassroots energy firsthand. After spending some time in North Carolina, I’m so thrilled to say that I’m witnessing the same levels of engagement and enthusiasm for Cheri Beasley.

We know that to win in the South, everyone needs to step up and do what they can to help make political change. Will you pitch in today to help make Cheri Beasley the next Senator in North Carolina? [[link removed]]

Here’s why voters are so excited by Cheri: she’s the real deal. As a former public defender and the first African American Chief Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court, Cheri has decades of experience protecting communities and safeguarding the civil rights of everyone in her state. She worked with law enforcement to prioritize keeping students in classrooms instead of courtrooms, and as Chief Justice she implemented paid family leave for over 6,000 court employees.

Cheri’s remarkable track record as a public servant makes her one of the most accomplished candidates out there right now. In the Senate, I know she will continue this work by voting for legislation that will protect reproductive rights and empower the working families in North Carolina.

Cheri’s opponent is a former Congressman named Ted Budd, one of the most extreme members of a GOP hijacked by ultra-MAGAs. He’s voted against the bipartisan infrastructure and veterans bills, but votes for legislation sponsored by big pharma and big oil while raking in hundreds of thousands in campaign contributions from them. And that’s really just the start of his extremism. He’s co-sponsored a national abortion ban, voted against certifying the results of the 2020 election, and as the race tightens he refuses to say if he’d accept the results of the election. This guy is MAGA through and through.

Simply put, Budd is not getting the national attention of his fellow ultra-MAGA’s, but he’s just as bad. He’s spending most of this campaign hiding from the press, but if Budd wins this race, he could very well be the decisive Senator in a vote to ban abortions across the country. And we know Budd will happily support any Big Lie legislation that comes up in the Senate.

The stakes are this high in North Carolina. It’s a race between an accomplished former Chief Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court, and a man who is on the record voting against democracy and basic human rights. The winner of this race could decide control of the Senate. Cheri has already won statewide in North Carolina twice. She’s got the track record and leadership to mobilize that same voter base to win again this year. I got the opportunity to witness it firsthand. Now, split a contribution today to help elect Cheri and so many other great Democrats across the country. [[link removed]]
