The Supreme Court reversed Roe v. Wade, but abortion remains legal in Oregon. We have some of the strongest reproductive freedoms in the nation.
Our neighboring state, Idaho, has banned abortion after six weeks. This is before many people even know they are pregnant.
The one reproductive health care clinic in Boise was forced to close last month, so now women across Idaho and in Eastern Oregon have extremely limited access to abortion care.
To get an abortion, patients must now travel hundreds of miles to reach the nearest abortion clinic. One patient paid a $1,200 taxi fare from Boise to Bend. And many people lack the resources to travel this far.
The cruel Idaho law hurts low-income women and women of color the most, particularly those living in rural areas.
To help with access, I've joined with leaders in Oregon to increase resources across the state so we can serve as many people as possible.
The Dobbs decision and state abortion bans are causing harm daily. We must elect pro-choice leaders up and down the ballot. We need leaders who will continue to stand up for abortion access and stand against those who would turn back the clock.
We will fight back – every chance we get. And I will remain in this fight until all Americans can once again make their own reproductive health care decisions.
But we need your help. Right now, I'm asking you to join us in this fight by donating to the Northwest Abortion Access Fund, which provides resources and protects access across our region.
Thank you for standing with me,
Suzanne
