I’m running for Congress to be a champion. A champion for California’s 8th district. A champion for the environment. A champion for YOU. I am running because there are people in our district that Paul Cook won’t listen to—but I will. I will take your voices and stories with me to Washington when I become the representative of California’s 8th district. The voices and stories of the people of the 8th district have resonated with me and motivate me every day to make our district, and our country, a better place for everyday people.
My team and I created a video to show you the beauty of our district firsthand—and we want you to see it.

We launched this campaign on Earth Day and traveled from Mono Lake to Joshua Tree National Park. This journey reminded us of the importance of protecting our beautiful environment. It showed us that having a fighter in Washington with the courage to stand up to special interests is vital. We must do everything we can to protect these natural treasures, and that starts by electing an environmental champion to office.

This administration's attempt to repeal the Affordable Care Act in 2017 made me realize that I couldn’t stay on the sidelines any longer—I got to work. But, the more time I spent in Washington talking to legislators, the more I realized that real change comes from unseating the representatives who aren’t willing to listen to their constituents, and that’s why I’m running. I’m running to take Paul Cook’s seat: so that I can fight for and represent the people of California’s 8th congressional district. I will be your voice at the table and fight every day to make sure your voices are heard in Washington.

Our team and supporters have been so busy since our campaign launched on Earth Day (April 22nd). Here’s a snippet of what we have been up to since launching our campaign!

I had the pleasure of spending May 4th at the Desert Trails Rescue Cinco de Mayo Festival in Apple Valley. I had the opportunity to engage with the community and met some great kids. Desert Trails Rescue is an amazing organization that rescues horses from the slaughter pipeline. They have saved a lot of horses, ponies, goats, and even a little donkey named Eeyore. Thank you to Vena Irene Rodriguez and the team for their warm welcome.

I had the immense honor of attending “A Day in the Life of a Marine” at Camp Pendleton. I got to spend the day among our daughters and sons who sacrifice so much for our country. We had the privilege of seeing a promotion ceremony in person—which was incredibly moving. A special thank you to Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra for giving me the opportunity to spend the day with our Marines.

Thank you to everyone who came out and volunteered at the Mule Days Parade in Bishop. Our amazing youth volunteers helped us connect with voters all over Bishop. It was a pleasure meeting all of the wonderful people our team got to interact with. I spent the day in Victorville with the amazing Field Team 6 crew. This team of organizers, led by Jo Ann Bollen and Roger LaPlante, and my team spent the day registering voters and talking to them about flipping CA-08. I had a great day at the Apple Valley Freedom Festival celebrating our country’s birthday. I got to spend the day talking with members of our community about healthcare, protecting our environment, creating sustainable jobs for the Victory Valley, and ensuring a bright future for our children.

We received such a warm welcome at the Wrightwood Mountaineer Days Parade and had a blast marching. It was an absolute joy spending the day with Holly, Gwen, Laura, Stephanie, Andrea, Michael, Charlie, Lindsay, and everyone who was in attendance.

We had a truly amazing day traveling all over Mono County. I want to send a huge thank you to the Mono County Democratic Central Committee for organizing events in Walker, Bridgeport, June Lake, and in my own backyard—Mammoth Lakes. Thank you to everyone who came out to talk with me on such a beautiful day. It was great meeting so many wonderful people and discussing our vision for a CA-08 that is representative of everyone.
