The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) passed a disastrous new ruling last Thursday that in effect subsidizes dirty fuel suppliers and will force consumers to use electricity generated from fossil fuels, regardless of their wishes.
The new bill will exclude new renewable energy projects from the electricity market and subsidize dirty coal and gas plants, unless Illinois acts in 2020 to prevent the rule from taking effect here. States can opt out if they can adopt an alternative in 2020. The Clean Energy Jobs Act (CEJA) provides just that alternative.
The Illinois Clean Energy Jobs Act (HB 3624 / SB 2132) is an extremely important bill. It will:
• Set a goal of 100% clean energy for IL by 2050
• Decarbonize our state’s electric sector by 2030
• Prioritize jobs and economic opportunities, especially for disadvantaged communities
• Put us on a path to electrify the transportation sector
Please take action today to support CEJA!
1.) Call Gov. Pritzker. Governor Pritzker has the power to make sure this ruling doesn't impact Illinois consumers. Call his office to let him know that you're concerned about Trump's fossil fuel bailout, and you want him to support the Clean Energy Jobs Act.
Call Governor Pritzker at 1-415-367-3168
2.) Send a message to your Illinois State Representative, State Senator, and Governor Pritzker.
