Greetings!
Monday, October 31 is the deadline to nominate a colleague within the field of migrant health for Migrant Clinicians Network’s annual Kugel & Zuroweste Health Justice Award ([link removed]) —an annual prize designed to honor an emerging talent whose peers can describe as a “rising star” dispensing courage, compassion, and health justice directly at the frontlines.
Named for the innovative team of Candace Kugel, FNP, CNM, MS and Ed Zuroweste, MD, the Kugel & Zuroweste Health Justice Award is for anyone who supports the health and well-being of their community through their work with a health facility – including CHWs, promotoras, dental hygienists, medical assistants, physicians, and more. That is why we are looking to you, clinicians already established in the pursuit of health justice, to assist us in identifying an up and coming unsung professional already making a difference in the world.
Do you have a peer or colleague who fits this description? Nominate them today! Those wishing to nominate someone should complete the application and compose a brief essay (no longer than 850 words) that explains how their desired candidate meets the criteria for the award, including educational background, current years of service, community served in the current practice setting, and an explanation of the candidate’s reflection of what the award stands for.
In addition to receiving the prestigious award, the selected candidate will receive publicity through MCN’s considerable network of individuals and organizations serving migrant populations within the United States, as well as a $1,000 check.
