Fellow Conservative,

Due to technical problems outside our control, the Saturday Summary was unable to be sent out over the weekend. Our apologies for the delay, but we are hope you enjoy reading today's "Monday Summary."

With midterm elections approaching, everyone is on the move:

  • Congress is trying to fund the government before Oct 1, so they can go back home and campaign.
  • Increasingly, our open border is becoming a bigger election issue.
  • And powerful companies are declaring anyone who opposes wokeness “Dangerous for the world…”

It’s going to continue to be a busy news cycle until November.

Scott Adams, creator of the popular Dilbert comic strip, was canceled from 77 newspapers last week. The cancellation “coincidentally” happened just after Adams started making fun of the ESG agenda (Environmental, Social, Governance) in his strip.

As you may know, Heritage Action recently launched a campaign to advocate against ESG scores and this woke agenda. We have media and legislative resources at ESGhurts.com.

ESG is a method of scoring a business based on its compliance with leftist priorities such as providing paid time off for abortions. The quality of one’s ESG score will determine whether a business can receive loans, investments from other companies, tax breaks, and much more.

It’s no wonder the “global elites” don’t want Americans to be aware of ESG. If their ESG plan was common knowledge it would be quickly rejected.

Want to know what they are saying? Global elites gathered for the Clinton Global Initiative to discuss how they can use the ESG agenda to socially condition the American public.

Before September 30, Congress will vote on a continuing resolution, (CR) to extend the current levels of federal funding. This is about more than dollars—it’s about the polices those dollars fund.

With elections in November, Congress will do one of two things: extend the CR into the new year and a new Congress, or extend the CR only till December, just after midterm elections but before the new Congress is sworn in.

Historically, CRs that expire in December have ended with rushed, poorly written, and massive spending bills that only hurt the country.

A CR that expires in January would allow the new Congress to set the spending and policy agenda for 2023. But a CR that expires in December will give Pelosi and the Democrats the ability to set the agenda for another year.

The Democrats are on their way out, don’t let them keep control into 2023.

Call Congress and tell them to pass a CR that expires in January!

In each new Congress, the most important bills are traditionally given the bill numbers between 1 and 10.

Border security should be H.R. 1!

Since Biden took office, there have been nearly 5 million illegal border crossings, 78 of which were individuals on the FBI’s terror watchlist. Additionally, there have been 1.4 million gotaways and 2,071 pounds of fentanyl seized (enough for 469 million lethal doses). And that’s just what we know of.

That’s why Heritage Action’s Executive Director, Jessica Anderson is urging Congress to make the border priority #1.

In her most recent Fox News op-ed, Jessica clearly lays out the problems at the southern border and urges Republicans to fix it once they have control of the House again. The solutions are:

  • End “catch and release” which tells Border Patrol to release aliens caught in the act of crossing for asylum hearings which they rarely show up for.

  • Reimplement the Remain in Mexico policy, meaning that aliens seeking asylum in the U.S. must wait in Mexico rather than being admitted to and waiting in America.

  • Boost law enforcement's ability to do their jobs by increasing the resources available to Customs and Border Patrol as well as ending the abuse of parole authority which allows USCIS to let aliens go free inside the U.S. as they wait for their deportation hearings which most don’t show up for.

  • Impeach DHS secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for incompetence at best, and willful dereliction of duty at worst. It is his direct responsibility to secure the border and he has failed.

Rep. Cheney and Rep. Lofgren put forward a bill to amend the Electoral Count Act, and it quickly received a vote on the House floor this Wednesday. It passed with very few Republicans voting for it.

As we laid out, the bill was a partisan exercise, meant to message to the Democratic base ahead of the midterm elections. The bill was full of divisive rhetoric—it was not meant to win support from a broad coalition.

The bill made problematic changes to the Electoral Count Act, removing final authority on the electors from the state legislatures and giving this power to governors. This contradicts the U.S. Constitution which reads “Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors…”

The current ECA works as it is designed too. As always, Heritage Action is closely watching this issue and will keep you updated.

Did you see our latest press release? Heritage Action launched a serious effort to knock doors and talk with voters before November.

Since September 1, we’ve knocked on tens-of-thousands of doors in Nevada and New Hampshire to talk about the issues. With doors and calls combined, we will reach out to over 850,000 voters before November.
