I got into politics through my advocacy for gun safety. As you may know, it's a very personal fight for me — my son, Jordan Davis, was shot and killed ten years ago.
The gun lobby has tried to stop the work of gun safety advocates at every turn. We've made progress, but it hasn't been easy. It would be a lot easier if we didn't have politicians in office who cared more about appeasing the gun lobby than protecting the lives of their constituents.
Jen has proven time and time again that she's not afraid of groups like the NRA. She's sponsored legislation to keep guns away from domestic abusers, she's championed background checks, and she recently was a strong opponent of Georgia's new permitless carry legislation.
Meanwhile, her opponent — and current Attorney General — Chris Carr has done everything he can to cozy up to the gun lobby. He publicly urged the Supreme Court to strike down laws that limit magazine capacities. He sided with the NRA when it faced a lawsuit over allegations of fraud and corruption. And he proudly takes max-out contributions from the gun lobby.
It's time Georgians had better leadership, and they need an advocate like Jen to deliver it. She has the convictions and credentials needed to keep our families safe from gun violence. I'm proud to stand with her in this race, and I know she'll keep fighting tooth and nail for Georgians.
I've won multiple hard-fought races, and I can tell you just how important it is to have the resources for ads, field organizing, and digital outreach in the final stretch before Election Day. Jen's race is coming down to the wire, and we need to leave it all on the field for her.
