Fiscal Insanity: Don’t Let Pelosi and Schumer Lock in Biden’s Inflation Agenda
GettyImages-1242401779.jpg

What: Congress will soon begin debating a temporary spending bill to fund the government through mid-December—after the midterm elections. Pay close attention.

  • If they get away with this, Congressional Democrats would then have the chance to use the lame-duck session to pass a massive “omnibus” bill that keeps President Biden’s bloated spending plans in place for another year—even after the midterm elections which could result in a change in Congressional leadership.
  • We can’t let that happen. The next Congress in 2023 should decide next year’s policy agenda, and the spending that will fund it—not Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer in 2022.

Mad About Illegal Alien Flights? Open-Border Zealots Should Look in Mirror

Showing their true colors: Leftist leaders who actively encouraged illegal immigration are now throwing a fit over Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s sending illegal aliens to “sanctuary” cities like New York, Chicago, and Martha’s Vineyard. It’s hypocrisy at its finest.
  • These leftist leaders accuse Govs. DeSantis and Abbott of breaking the law.
  • But a careful reading of Title 8, Section 1324, of the U.S. Code shows that if anyone is breaking the law, it’s them.
Our take: “Maybe the open-borders crowd should crack open the books before making any more ill-advised claims about law-breaking,” writes Tom Homan, visiting fellow and former acting director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

DOJ Mounts Terrifying Assault on Citizens for Exercising First Amendment Rights

Bringing the hammer down: The Justice Department recently unleashed its wrath on the Eagle Forum of Alabama, a small nonprofit in Alabama with one full-time employee and one part-time employee. Its crime? Speaking out against subjecting children to transgender medical procedures.

  • DOJ targeted the Eagle Forum of Alabama in connection with a lawsuit against Alabama’s Vulnerable Child Compassion and Protection Act, which bans the use of puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, or sex change operations on minors.
Our take: “This is a dangerous action by the Justice Department. It’s something that all Americans who value their constitutional rights should oppose,” writes senior legal fellow Hans von Spakovsky.

ALWAYS ON OFFENSE

Heritage Files New Lawsuits Against Biden Administration

News: The Oversight Project announced new lawsuits Thursday in response to the Biden administration’s failure to comply with Heritage’s Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests.

  • The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission failed to turn over documents to Heritage related to a “guidance” that would force Americans to comply with wishes of the radical transgender community.
  • The Department of Education refused to comply with a FOIA request detailing its communications with a George Soros-funded group to shape education policy.

Fighting the Swamp in the Next Congress
GettyImages-1414507107.jpg

What: In anticipation of control of Congress changing hands next year, Heritage is rapidly expanding its Government Relations team by bringing in two Capitol Hill veterans as vice presidents:

  • Eric Teetsel, former chief of staff to Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley,
  • Clint Brown, former executive director of the influential Senate Steering Committee, chaired by Utah Sen. Mike Lee.

Why: “We are on offense every single day, fighting on behalf of the forgotten Americans who see that the swamp has left them behind, and is rapidly turning the country they love into a socialist nightmare," said Heritage President Kevin Roberts. Adding that these hires will “supercharge our Government Relations team and deliver results for the American people.”
