Today is the UN's International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons. The UN is mobilizing internationally to achieve the goal of a nuclear-weapon-free world.

This year, the occasion could not come at a more urgent time. With Vladimir Putin escalating his illegal invasion of Ukraine with nuclear threats, the world is closer than it has ever been to a full nuclear confrontation.

The current crisis makes it abundantly clear that the only guaranteed way to avoid a nuclear war is to abolish all nuclear weapons.

CND has been working towards this goal since our foundation in 1958, putting pressure on governments and helping to raise public awareness of the terrible dangers of nuclear weapons.
