So far during this member drive, more than 600 individuals have made donations to ProPublica in support of our relentless journalists and the fearless work they do to uncover abuses of power and breaches of the public trust. That gift, totalling $1.6 billion, was given to a new organization led by Leonard Leo, former President Donald Trump’s top adviser on his Supreme Court nominees, as well as the mastermind behind multimillion-dollar media campaigns to help confirm them. This money adds to the already massive warchest Leo has been using to influence elections, judicial appointments and policy battles.
