Friends — Over the years, our movement has faced bad-faith attacks from everyone from my far-right colleagues in Congress to the former President of the United States. We’ve overcome challenges from conservative Democrats and Republicans who — along with right-wing groups — have spent tens of millions of dollars to try to unseat me and silence our movement. This is not the level of opposition a typical House campaign faces. But we face these constant attacks precisely because we’re not running a typical campaign. We’re a people-powered movement dedicated to disrupting the status quo and building a country that works for everyone — a country that guarantees healthcare, housing, clean air and water, education, and reproductive rights. Republicans are already horrified that a Muslim, immigrant, refugee, Black, hijabi woman like me could be elected to Congress. But the fact that I am part of a movement that is relentless in fighting for bold policies like Medicare for All and student cancellation horrifies them even more. Our ideas are a direct threat to the GOP, and that’s why they’re hell-bent on stopping us. We’re just a few days away from our last end-of-quarter deadline before the election, so we’ve set a $420,000 goal to ensure we have the resources to get out the vote for our progressive priorities and show the pundits and my GOP opponent that we have the grassroots support to deliver huge victories.
