Hi there,
With all that's going on in Washington right now, it's easy to look around and assume nothing's getting done. I'm emailing today because that couldn't be further from the truth. In just the past week or two, we've made a significant positive impact for millions of Americans.
- For military families, we ended an unfair and cruel "widow's tax" that was an unfair burden on families of those killed while serving our country. These families have already suffered so much, and we're proud to have helped ease their burdens.
- For students, it's often far too hard to apply to college — it seems like every year, the applications get longer. That's why I'm proud that the Senate passed the bipartisan Future Act to make it easier to apply for financial aid.
- For young families, we know how hard it can be to raise a child and keep a job. That's why we're proud to announce extending paid family leave for federal workers — letting new parents spend more time with their kids without having to worry about their employment.
This is just the beginning. We'll keep working on issues that matter to people, like standing up for equality, protecting voting rights, and defending our elections from outside interference.
