Dear John,
Even though we’re entering the final 6 weeks of the campaign season, it’s still a top priority of mine to make sure I’m delivering as your Congressman. Here’s a few highlights of what I’ve been working on lately:
1. I supported three bills in the U.S. House to make the government more accurate, transparent, and accountable. These bills would protect qualified employees from partisan firings, expand whistleblower protections, and safeguard the integrity of the Census Bureau.
2. I attended the 30th Anniversary Ocmulgee Indigenous Celebration with U.S. Department of the Interior Secretary Deb Haaland. It was an honor to meet and join the Muscogee Creek Nation for this celebration.
3. I joined fellow Georgia U.S. House Democrats in urging Governor Brian Kemp to accept federal funds to expand Medicaid and help prevent hospital closures across our state. We must act to support hospitals, prevent more closures, and ensure our communities have access to care.
4. I announced that Columbus will receive $400,000 to expand the substance abuse treatment available in the Muscogee County Veterans Treatment Court. I am glad that these funds will help veterans get the support and care they need to cope with combat-related mental illnesses and adjust to civilian life.
I have worked tirelessly to deliver for Middle and Southwest Georgia throughout my time in Congress, and can’t wait to expand our progress even more if I’m re-elected. But I need your help to make sure we secure victory in November. My critical end-of-quarter deadline is this Friday, so if you’re able, please consider chipping in to my re-election campaign.
Thank you,
Congressman Sanford D. Bishop
