Hey John, Happy Han-chris-kwan-solstice-kuh! As we all head toward wherever we call “home” for the holidays, many of us carry a feeling of impending doom. Facing a relative (or twelve) who spews anti-abortion rhetoric after a few-too-many glasses of “holiday cheer” is never fun or relaxing. We at Abortion Access Front want to help you correct Aunt Linda when she starts word-vomiting things like "partial birth abortion” or “selling baby parts”...to help re-establish peace on earth (or at least peace in your family room). Last week, badass abortion rights advocate Erika Christensen performed a skit challenging later abortion myths with our head writer Jaye McBride, writer Sarah Hartshorne and Program Director Anna Bean at our monthly comedy show in Brooklyn. Just three years ago, Erika and her husband Garin found themselves facing the difficulty of having to terminate later in their pregnancy. They have taken this painful experience and turned it into PatientForward, a non-profit that helps people understand and speak with compassion on later abortion—an issue that is often wildly distorted by forced-birth extremists. In this video, Erika and our team roleplay some potential family scenarios to help you set Uncle Jeff straight when he chimes in about this intensely personal and complicated issue. We hope these examples can help you navigate any potentially emotional waters this holiday season. Click, watch, share! Happy holidays and best wishes to you and yours (even the Fox News aficionados!) xoxLizz P.S. AS A BONUS, all gifts made between now and the end of the year will be MATCHED up to $20K, thanks to a generous donor. You know what to do! | |
