It came down to the wire, but we did it. We got election security funding for 2020.

On Thursday, the House and the Senate came together and allocated $425 million to states and localities to help ensure the safety of our elections. The government spending bill has now passed both chambers and will kick in immediately.

We never would have gotten here without all of your hard work. The Stand Up America community was the leading progressive group mobilizing for election security funding.

You made thousands of calls, wrote letters, visited your lawmakers' offices, sent emails and tweets, and in the end, Moscow Mitch couldn't withstand the pressure. He folded like a cheap suit.

Now, election administrators will have more support to replace outdated equipment with systems that use voter-verified paper ballots, something they have been clamoring for. Federal funding will give states additional resources to help keep hostile foreign powers like Russia, China, and Iran out of our elections, sending the message loud and clear that it is not okay to interfere in our democratic system.

Our work to protect our democracy is far from over, but this is a big win. Securing this funding is yet another example of the power you have -- every action you take creates the change we so desperately need in our country.
