Too often, those on the frontlines of the fight for economic, racial, and social justice have been reduced to footnotes in history. Not in this movement.
We are bringing forward the stories of those who went before, the stories of community, and speaking our truth to achieve justice and equity.
But our movement is up against the occupant of the White House, extremists who hate the progress we are making, and corporate special interests.
In one of the wealthiest countries in the world, it is unconscionable that families have to choose between covering their rent, paying their medical bills, or putting food on the table.
In the land of the free, it is a profound injustice that we have created a system of mass incarceration, rooted in institutionalized racism, that incarcerates 2.3 million people, most of them black and brown.
We are in a fight for the soul of our democracy and the future of our nation. We can’t afford to be modest in our aspirations. We cannot afford to dream small or accept business as usual. We must resist AND progress.
Our country is at a crossroads, and these unprecedented times call for unprecedented leadership, unprecedented organizing, and unprecedented mobilizing.
With your support, I know that we can win this fight and enact big structural change that ensure justice and equity for everyone in our communities.
Thank you for everything, I am so grateful that you are a part of our movement.
In solidarity,
Ayanna Pressley
