In a moment I'm going to ask you to contribute to the Mail Our Way to the Midterms Project to help cover the cost of postage, but before I do, I wanted to share a few stories from Flip the South postcard volunteers and tell you more about our work so you know some of the people your donation will help and what the goal of this project is.

The Mail Our Way to the Midterms Project will fight to Flip the South by engaging voters that are too often forgotten and left behind by sending 200,000 voters a personal message with handwritten postcards. Even better, after these voters receive a postcard, our text-out-the-vote team will follow up with a get-out-the-vote text as well, increasing the chances that these voters will turn out even more by making two contacts with them.

Now that you know more about our work, please read these four stories about Flip the South postcard volunteers that need your help to join us.

Carmen is a civics teacher working to get high school students more engaged in the political process. She requested 500 cards for her class but is unable to cover the cost of postage on her own.

Amber is retired and on a fixed income. She donates what she can to progressive candidates and gives time and energy to volunteer opportunities, but is unable to purchase stamps for all of the cards she’d like to write.

Brandon is introducing his kids to civic engagement at a young age, and he wants to be able to write postcards for progressive candidates with his family. He can cover half the cost of postage but needs some help with the rest.

Vi is 17 years old and is excited to be able to vote next year. They want to get a head start in political advocacy and have signed up to write an ambitious 500 cards. They’re focused on school and family, so they don’t have an income that can support a purchase of this size.

Another Amount The Mail Our Way to the Midterms project targets voters in 4 key southern states, Texas, Georgia, Florida, and North Carolina to inspire unlikely voters to cast their ballots. There’s no doubt that writing persuasive postcards to voters encourages them to support our candidates and drives them to the polls, but to increase the likelihood of pushing our targeted voters to the polls our program goes even further by following up with a get-out-the-vote text, increasing the chances that these voters will turn out. With just over 45 days until election day, we need your support now more than ever.
