Some of the biggest U.S. retailers are failing to do even the bare minimum to keep dangerous chemicals out of their products. Now more than ever, we need to take an active role in protecting our families' health, friend.
And that means knowing what's in the products you bring into your home ? and demanding better. A newly released report card shows 14 major retailers received an F for failing to implement even basic consumer-protection policies ? including Starbucks, McDonald's, Nordstrom, and Ace Hardware.
These companies are collectively worth billions and their products end up in millions of homes and schools. Yet they are not publicly committing to making the products they sell safer.
It's more important than ever that we speak out. With industry insiders running the EPA's chemical safety office, the Trump administration is actively weakening toxic chemical rules. That's why it's up to retailers to disclose dangerous chemicals in the products they sell and to phase them out quickly.
As consumers, we have ENORMOUS power. Big retailers care what YOU think. Raise your voice! Tell these retailers: It's time to eliminate toxic chemicals.

More than 40,000 industrial chemicals show up in consumer products and food packaging ? and the vast majority of these chemicals have NEVER been adequately tested for safety. Horrifyingly, some of these chemicals have been linked to cancer, infertility, and developmental disabilities ? and they are hiding in everything from cleaning products to cosmetics to baby toys to electronics.
Here's the worst part: We know it's more than possible to reduce the risk to our families posed by dangerous chemicals. More than 63% of the top retailers evaluated in the report card improved over the past year alone ? thanks in large part to consumer demand. But we need more ? especially from the 14 companies receiving the worst scores.
Time and time again we've seen the difference we can make when we use our power to protect our health. Thanks to the work of activists like you, seven retailers last year ? including Bed Bath & Beyond, Lowe's, and Panera Bread ? improved their previous ratings by restricting the chemicals used in their products and creating safer chemical policy programs.
There is simply no excuse for inaction. That's why we're working with our partners in the Mind the Store campaign to hold these corporations accountable to their consumers. Will you join us and send an urgent message to the 14 worst-scoring retailers to develop stronger policies to protect our health?
