JOE BIDEN CLAIMS INFLATION IS ONLY UP "AN INCH"

When asked if he was working to lower inflation, Joe Biden dismissed the question and claimed inflation is only up "an inch." While Biden denies the economic troubles facing millions of Americans, the actions of the Federal Reserve tell us otherwise.

The Federal Reserve's direct assault on inflation paints a far different picture than what the White House attempts to push. To curtail inflation, the Federal Reserve announced a .75% federal interest rate hike, bringing rates to their highest level since 2008. This hike increases the interest Oklahomans pay on their credit cards and will nudge many mortgages and car loans higher with time. As Biden shrugs and laughs off our country's problems, the working class pays the price.

KEEPING OUR COMMITMENT TO OUR VETERANS

Every life lost to suicide is one too many, and the prevalence among our nation’s veterans is alarming. In fact, military suicide rates are four times higher than deaths that occurred during military operations in the last 20 years. When our veterans sign up for service, they commit to protecting the lives of all Americans. We must keep our commitment to them and ensure they have the resources needed to combat mental health challenges when they return home.

According to the most recent reporting from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, 6,146 veterans lost their lives to suicide in 2020. Mental health and substance use challenges have only been exacerbated by COVID-19 and the isolation and uncertainty many have faced throughout various lockdowns. Tragically, suicide has now become the second leading cause of death among veterans under age 45.

September is National Suicide Prevention Month, a time to raise awareness of this crisis and ensure our loved ones have the resources they need to discuss suicide prevention. Check in on those you love and let them know you care. Listen to them, let them know they’re not alone, and encourage them to seek help. This seemingly small act might save their life.

If you or someone you know is experiencing thoughts of suicide, please know help is available. Many of our men and women in uniform who return from war zones face mental health struggles. There are resources available. You can call the Veterans Crisis Line at 1-800-273-8255 or the National Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at 988 (dial 1 for veteran care). You can also text the Veterans Crisis Line at 838255.

WORLD ALZHEIMER'S DAY

Wednesday was World Alzheimer’s Day, a time to encourage national conversation about brain health and raise awareness to improve health care outcomes. While a single day is not nearly enough to recognize the realities of this vicious disease, I want to express my gratitude to those in Oklahoma who work every day to advance research and improve the lives of those who are suffering from Alzheimer’s and other forms of Dementia. WORKING IN WASHINGTON

We had a busy week in Washington! Thank you to those who took the time to meet with me.

Thank you to the Oklahoma State Chamber for having me on Wednesday. It was great to see so many of you and discuss what is happening in Washington and how it is affecting our state.

Maximizing internet and cellular access in rural areas is of the utmost importance for Oklahoma. It was great to sit down with US Cellular and discuss their ongoing programs and initiatives.

Natl Assoc of Federally Impacted Schools

Thank you to the National Association of Federally Impacted Schools for stopping by. We discussed the importance of Impact Aid in Oklahoma schools and the future of the program in Congress.

The First Amendment grants every American the right to free speech and freedom of religion. It's what our nation was founded upon. Thank you to the National Religious Broadcasters for joining me in this fight and for spreading the message of hope and love to millions of Americans every day.

Thank you to representatives from the International Franchise Association for stopping by. We discussed the issues impacting the franchising community.

It's always great to meet with representatives from the Oklahoma Farm Bureau. We spoke about their priorities in the upcoming farm bill.

Biden spent another week ignoring the crisis happening at our southern border despite new record breaking statistics reported by U.S. Customs and Border Patrol.
